When you first arrive at Bailey’s, you can tell it’s an iconic restaurant with big wooden doors.
Stepping in the entrance, you have the bar to your left and the restaurant up the elegant stairs.
It has a warm and rich feel, yet it doesn’t make you uncomfortable if you’re not from that world.
There is always someone at the door to greet you, and they have an elevator for people with mobility issues.
The Menu and Service
Bailey’s has an extensive menu with lots of variety to choose from.
With meat, pasta and beef medallions, you can find something appealing every time.
They also have a large drink and wine menu for those looking to indulge.
There were 15 of us, and the waiter was fantastic. He did not rush us, and he wasn’t slow.
One of the couples ordered a bottle of white wine, and he kept that chilled the whole time, which was a nice touch.
When the food came out, it was always hot and prepared well.
We had some appetizers and salads, and our meal paced perfectly.
We did tell the waiter that we preferred not to be rushed since we spent 4–5 hours dining.
They were very accommodating. They sat us in this beautiful room with windows overlooking the street that had a cozy setting.

The Food
Most people started with appetizers; the common theme was French onion soup.
I ordered one for myself, and it was delicious. It was also nice to have when I dipped my homemade bread.
The starter salads came out next, and mine was excellent.
Some people didn’t have a lot of dressing on them, so they were a little disappointed.
Everyone savoured their meals, ordering a variety of dishes.
I ordered the rack of lamb, and it was delicious. The chef cooked it perfectly.
The waiter recommended I get it cooked medium, which is one level higher than steak’s medium rare, for the rack of lamb.
That added a nice touch for people unfamiliar with how lamb should be cooked.
The presentation was appealing, and the plates were large enough that you had room to eat on them.
The vegetables were done julienne, and they had a nice flavour.
I chose the rice, and while it wasn’t bad, it was a bit plain. Since the rice wasn’t why I picked the dish, it didn’t bother me much, and I ate most of it.
Remember, I’m not a fan of rice, so take my review of their rice with a grain of salt or two.
Their other option was roasted potatoes, but I wasn’t in the mood for them.
After dinner, I ordered a decaf coffee and some dessert.
The coffee was good, and I ordered the cheesecake with a raspberry sauce, which was excellent.
The restaurant closed at 10 pm, and it was closer to 10:30 when we started to leave, but we never felt rushed.
The waiter informed us they would work until 2 am, so it did not bother them.
Bailey’s is in the heart of the exchange district, making it an excellent choice for concertgoers.
There is street parking and parkades close by as well.
The entire experience was delightful, and I would highly recommend it.
We’ve visited there many times and will keep returning because the atmosphere and the food always impress.
The price is reasonable and not out of hand like some restaurants around here.
The rack of lamb I ordered came with vegetables, potatoes and a salad for $54.50, which is very reasonable for our city.
My final assessment of Bailey’s would be a 9.5/10.
