Poorly written articles are painful to read yet weirdly captivate people, almost like staring at someone rudely.

English isn’t everyone’s first language, but there should be no reason for basic errors nowadays.

I’m talking about no capitalization, sentence structure or formatting.

The free version of Grammarly is a bit weak, and the paid version is costly at $200 a year, so I get it if you don’t want to dish the money out.

ChatGPT is a free option that is terrific at correcting spelling and punctuation.

It will also catch some sentence errors along the way.

Make sure to prompt it only to correct the spelling and punctuation; otherwise, it will start to write for you, and that’s not good.

Here are two examples of what I have seen recently.

  1. It has really. Been a great game. (Seriously, there was a period in the middle of that.)

  2. i don’t believe what I am seeing at the moment. (Who doesn’t know how to capitalize the first word?)

The other monstrosity I see is people using italic quotes for nothing special, simply a sentence or phrase that doesn’t deserve it.

It’s like they know that feature exists and randomly add it. It’s very bizarre and funny at the same time.
