The writer’s mindset is unique to each individual, and it’s how you write to your audience through your style.

Someone like Jim Carrey would not do great writing a serious movie script as he’s already perceived to be funny.

It would take a lot to convince people otherwise.

“It’s easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled.” — Mark Twain.

Jim Carrey didn’t fool anyone here, as he’s a great comedian and actor, but you get the point.

People often say you should work on your weaknesses and diversify your abilities.

This is terrible advice.

If you work on your weaknesses, all that will happen is that you’ll get a little better at sucking at the thing you’re working on.

Develop your strengths and only work on a weakness if it’s crucial.

Victor Hovland, the well-known Norwegian golfer, struggled with his short game compared to professional standards.

To improve, he dedicated himself to practicing and honing that aspect of his play. He’s now one of the best players in the world, but the short game in golf is crucial, so he needed to make the change.

Most weaknesses are not vital, so learn to recognize them and work on your strengths to form your writer’s mindset properly.

Once you develop that mindset, it takes time to gather an audience, so be patient.
